José joined Pérez-Llorca in January 2012. He is currently working as a senior associate in the Litigation and Arbitration practice. Over the years, he has advised domestic and foreign clients on all types of commercial arbitrations and litigations. In 2019 he worked as part of the international arbitration team at Dechert in Paris on secondment.

Experience

Litigation
José has extensive experience appearing before civil and commercial courts at all levels and in all types of proceedings. He has advised national and international clients on both pre-litigious and litigious matters, acting as legal representative in disputes in a wide range of sectors (construction, infrastructure, energy, banking, real estate, health and military sectors, among others). He has vast experience in corporate and commercial litigation, as well as contractual and extra-contractual liability, inheritance, horizontal property and claims of ownership. He also has experience in litigation before the civil division of the Spanish Supreme Court.

Arbitration
José has experience in national and international, institutional and ad hoc arbitrations. He has participated in arbitration proceedings carried out by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Madrid Arbitration Court (CAM), and the Civil and Commercial Arbitration Court (CIMA) regarding matters such as construction, infrastructures, fires and health matters.

Insolvency José also advises national and international clients on insolvency proceedings. He has taken part in some of the most important insolvency proceedings in the country in recent years and has particular experience in matters of directors’ liability and rescissory action.

Contracts
He also drafts and advises on the preparation of all types of civil and commercial contracts, distribution contracts, service, agency and mandate agreements, leasing or construction contracts, among others.

Academic and Publishing Collaborations

José was a lecturer on Civil Litigation for the Master’s degree for Access to the Legal Profession at Instituto de Empresa (2017-2018), and previously on “Forensic Techniques and Trial simulation” for the Master’s degree for Access to the Legal Profession at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2016-2017).

José has contributed and continues to contribute to various publications by writing academic articles and by collaborating in collective works.

He also participates in seminars and round tables held by the Law and Business Research Foundation (la Fundación para la Investigación sobre el Derecho y la Empresa FIDE) and regularly forms part of the IE Law School examining board for the Master’s degree for Access to the Legal Profession.
