Pérez-Llorca’s European Union Law practice is made up of lawyers with in-depth experience of the institutions and law of the European Union, it terms of both its substantive and constitutional aspects, as a result of experience acquired in recent years through participation in various proceedings before the European Union institutions and bodies, and in particular before the European Commission and the Court of Justice of the European Union. The team has been involved in proceedings in the fields of banking, energy, transport, pharmaceuticals, consumer protection and State Aid.

Pérez-Llorca’s European Union Law practice is also supported by the rest of the firm’s lawyers in each sector, thus achieving a comprehensive approach to advice and disputes within a given specialisation.

The expansive nature of European Union law means that advice needs to consider both a sectoral and global perspective of the European Union. Taking this approach means that companies can be advised from when the issue arises right up to the end of any possible litigation, not only before national courts but also before the Court of Justice of the European Union. The current challenges require rigorous advice, with knowledge of how the various institutions operate and first-hand information that allows companies to anticipate new legislative proposals or decisions from the European institutions.

The European Union Law team provides advice that brings together national, European and international perspectives in all practice areas. The upcoming opening of the Brussels office will strengthen this constantly evolving area, ensuring the team has access to immediate information on all legislation that may be adopted by the European Union, and facilitating effective interaction with the various institutions (the Commission, Council, Parliament, European Central Bank) and other bodies.

Our experience includes advising on State Aid proceedings, complaints to the European Commission, the interpretation and application of European law, and defending clients in disputes before the Court of Justice of the European Union. Practice areas include: public procurement, the single market, proceedings related to trade policy, sanctions, regulated sectors (financial, energy, health, etc.). Our advice covers both public and private entities, including multi-jurisdictional litigation.
