Suescún de Roa has over 20 years of experience in complex litigation and national and international arbitration in various jurisdictions, seats and under various applicable laws

Felipe Suescún de Roa has joined Pérez-Llorca as a new partner in Colombia to strengthen the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, one of its key areas in this country.

Suescún de Roa has more than 20 years of professional experience, with a solid background in national and international arbitrations, dispute resolution and business law. Throughout his career he has been involved in complex arbitrations in different jurisdictions, seats and under applicable laws, including Argentina, Colombia, France, Mexico, New York, Switzerland and the UNIDROIT Principles, mainly under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB) Rules.

Suescún de Roa is widely recognised in Colombia and Latin America as a leader in his practice area by various rankings, guides, directories and independent publications, including Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, Latin Lawyer and Lexology, among others.

A graduate in Law and a specialist in Commercial Law from the Universidad de los Andes, Suescún de Roa also holds an LL.M. from Georgetown University. In the academic field, he has lectured on Obligations, Civil Liability and Business Law at the Universidad de los Andes and taught Arbitration and Companies in courses at the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the Colombian Superintendency of Companies.

He is also the author of the book Tratado de Derecho de Daños en los Contratos published in 2025, and Deberes y Responsabilidad Civil de los Administradores de Sociedades in 2021, both published by Tirant lo Blanch, as well as numerous academic articles published in national and international specialist journals. He is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences in Colombia and Latin America, and has been admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) in London, the institution’s highest accreditation, and was a foreign associate in the international arbitration group at the Washington D.C. office of a well-known international law firm.

“The arrival of Felipe as a partner significantly strengthens our Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice in Colombia. His experience in complex arbitrations and his track record in high-impact cases align with Pérez-Llorca’s vision of providing sophisticated advice on the most significant matters for our clients,” said Mauricio Piñeros, Country Chair Colombia at Pérez-Llorca.

This move comes just days after Pérez-Llorca announced the appointment of 12 new partners and five counsels globally, including Colombian lawyers Paola Valderrama and María Camila Parra, confirming once again the firm’s growth and expansion in Colombia.

These appointments strengthen the Administrative, Competition, Corporate, Finance, Tax and Regulatory practice areas

The firm has also promoted five lawyers from Spain and Colombia to counsels

José Luis Romeu will take over the London office of the firm in the first quarter of 2026

Pérez-Llorca today announced the promotion of twelve professionals to partner in recognition of their track record, commitment, technical excellence and contribution to the growth of the firm. This move bolsters the firm’s leadership and commitment to developing talent in its various offices. Specifically, the new partners are based in the Madrid, Mexico City and Bogotá offices and will strengthen different strategic practice areas for the firm.

The Pérez-Llorca professionals who will become partners as of 1 January 2026 are:

Melchor Álvarez de Mon (Corporate, London)

Antonio De Lisi (Corporate, Mexico City)

Iciar de Lorenzo (Corporate, Madrid)

Francisco Gómez (Corporate, Madrid)

Eugenio Marín (Finance, Madrid)

Ángel Martín (Corporate, Madrid)

Patricio Martínez (Competition, Mexico City)

Enrique Muñoz (Regulatory, Mexico City)

Antonio Ruiz (Tax, Madrid)

Paola Valderrama (Corporate, Bogotá)

Belén Wert (Administrative, Madrid)

Yi Zhou (Tax, Madrid)

In addition, the firm has promoted Daragh Brehony (Litigation and Arbitration, Madrid), Eva del Amo (Real Estate, Madrid), Antonio García (Real Estate, Madrid), Nuria García (Real Estate, Madrid) and María Camila Parra (Real Estate, Bogotá) to counsels.

These appointments reflect Pérez-Llorca’s objective to drive internal growth, recognise in-house talent and strengthen its leadership structure in the face of current and future challenges in the legal market.

“We thank these professionals for their commitment, effort and dedication, and we are confident that, with the drive of this new generation of partners, our ability to serve our clients and our global reach will be further strengthened,” said Pedro Pérez-Llorca, Senior Partner of Pérez-Llorca.

London Office

After seven years at the helm of the London office, the first opened by Pérez-Llorca in foreign territory, Álvaro Ramírez de Haro will hand over the reins to José Luis Romeu, a partner who has been working there since the beginning of 2024.

Ramírez de Haro will return to Madrid, where he will continue to work closely with the London office through his work with major international funds and firms.

Likewise, Ander Valverde, a partner based in London since 2022, who has combined his responsibility for the Finance team in Spain with the development of the firm’s debt practice in London, will return to Spain in April 2026, where he will continue to coordinate the Finance practice in Madrid and remain linked to the London office through the firm’s clients in this key financial centre for this practice.

Pérez-Llorca’s London office has a team of more than 10 people which, alongside José Luis Romeu, includes partners Isabel Villa (Restructuring) and the recently appointed Melchor Álvarez de Mon (Corporate), who joins the team in the British capital to further bolster this location.

José Luis Romeu joined Pérez-Llorca in 2017 as a lawyer in the Corporate practice and made partner in January 2024. Specialising in commercial law, his career has a strong international flavour as, in addition to an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law from Georgetown University, he worked in the firm’s London office in 2019 and 2020 and is also a Solicitor of England and Wales.
