Pérez-Llorca today announced the promotion of twelve professionals to partner in recognition of their track record, commitment, technical excellence and contribution to the growth of the firm. This move bolsters the firm’s leadership and commitment to developing talent in its various offices. Specifically, the new partners are based in the Madrid, Mexico City and Bogotá offices and will strengthen different strategic practice areas for the firm.

The Pérez-Llorca professionals who will become partners as of 1 January 2026 are:

In addition, the firm has promoted Daragh Brehony (Litigation and Arbitration, Madrid), Eva del Amo (Real Estate, Madrid), Antonio García (Real Estate, Madrid), Nuria García (Real Estate, Madrid) and María Camila Parra (Real Estate, Bogotá) to counsels.

These appointments reflect Pérez-Llorca’s objective to drive internal growth, recognise in-house talent and strengthen its leadership structure in the face of current and future challenges in the legal market.

London Office

After seven years at the helm of the London office, the first opened by Pérez-Llorca in foreign territory, Álvaro Ramírez de Haro will hand over the reins to José Luis Romeu, a partner who has been working there since the beginning of 2024.

Ramírez de Haro will return to Madrid, where he will continue to work closely with the London office through his work with major international funds and firms.

Likewise, Ander Valverde, a partner based in London since 2022, who has combined his responsibility for the Finance team in Spain with the development of the firm’s debt practice in London, will return to Spain in April 2026, where he will continue to coordinate the Finance practice in Madrid and remain linked to the London office through the firm’s clients in this key financial centre for this practice.

Pérez-Llorca’s London office has a team of more than 10 people which, alongside José Luis Romeu, includes partners Isabel Villa (Restructuring) and the recently appointed Melchor Álvarez de Mon (Corporate), who joins the team in the British capital to further bolster this location.

José Luis Romeu joined Pérez-Llorca in 2017 as a lawyer in the Corporate practice and made partner in January 2024. Specialising in commercial law, his career has a strong international flavour as, in addition to an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law from Georgetown University, he worked in the firm’s London office in 2019 and 2020 and is also a Solicitor of England and Wales.

The Portugal office is ranked in Band 2 in this guide, a milestone that reflects the area’s strength and specialisation in financial innovation and technological regulation. In addition, Inês Palma Ramalho maintains her individual Band 2 ranking for her track record in payments, regulation and innovation in financial services.

Pérez-Llorca will expand its New York office team in the coming months with the relocation of José Ignacio Rivero, currently a partner in the firm’s Mexico City office, to New York. This move marks a milestone in US legal practice as Pérez-Llorca becomes the first law firm to practice Mexican law with a robust team in this city. Rivero will be joined in New York by a team of Mexican lawyers with full capacity to serve the needs of the firm’s clients in the United States and Mexico.

With a professional career spanning 20 years, 11 of which he has been a partner at Pérez-Llorca Mexico, José Ignacio Rivero is an expert in mergers and acquisitions as well as banking and finance law. During his career, he has advised national and international companies on cross-border transactions, restructurings and financings, establishing himself as a leader in his field. In addition to his professional work, Rivero created and chairs the Fundación Dr. José Ignacio Rivero Cosme-Más allá del Cáncer, a non-profit organisation that supports patients with limited resources in their fight against cancer.

Rivero’s move to New York builds on the work that partners Javier Gómez and Felipe Nazar have been carrying out from this city, alongside a team of lawyers who are experts in commercial law and international arbitration.

Pérez-Llorca today announced the appointment of six partners, through both internal promotions and new arrivals. These appointments strengthen the Litigation and Arbitration practice in Spain; the Restructuring & Finance practice based in the UK; and the Real Estate, Corporate M&A and Banking & Finance practices in Mexico.

Four of the firm’s six new partners are women, in line with the Pérez-Llorca Equality Plan, which includes measures to promote and develop women’s careers in order to advance equal opportunities between men and women and increase the number of female partners at the firm.

Five of these six partners are part of the firm’s international offices, and are in addition to the recently announced appointment of Manuel de Abreu Castelo Branco in Lisbon, in a further demonstration of Pérez-Llorca’s firm commitment to international development.

Bringing in new talent

María Teresa Paillés and María Esther Rey join Pérez-Llorca’s Mexico team as partners. Their appointments are part of Pérez-Llorca’s ‘Women in Corporate’ programme, through which the firm promotes equality between men and women and fosters female talent in the Corporate field.

María Teresa Paillés joins Pérez-Llorca’s Mexican practice with more than 35 years of experience in both Mexico and New York. She specialises in real estate transactions and investments in all sectors of industry, mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, as well as general corporate law, having advised private as well as listed companies and public entities. She is the president of the board of directors and a founding partner of Abogadas MX, an NGO that promotes the professional development of women lawyers.

María Esther Rey joins Pérez-Llorca’s Mexico City office after more than 25 years of experience advising various national and multinational companies on their operational, transactional and real estate activities both in Mexico and abroad. She has been involved in M&A transactions, loan negotiations, project finance and the structuring of guarantees mainly for the real estate industry. She has extensive experience in investment, guarantee, administration and business trusts.

Internal promotions

As part of Pérez-Llorca’s commitment to internal talent, four professionals have been promoted to partners, two women and two men, from the London, Madrid and Mexico City offices. Two lawyers have also become counsels in Madrid and Mexico City.

Isabel Villa has been promoted from counsel to partner. She joined the Madrid office in 2022 as a counsel in the Banking & Finance practice, and in March 2024 she joined the firm’s London team.

Silvia de Paz joins the team of partners at Pérez-Llorca, where she has spent most of her professional career in the Litigation and Arbitration area of the Madrid office.

Jacinto Ávalos Capín has been promoted to partner in the firm’s Mexico City office. He is an expert in Corporate M&A, Banking & Finance and Debt & Capital Markets.

Jerónimo Ramos has been promoted to partner in the firm’s Mexico City office. He specialises in infrastructure and energy project finance, structured finance, M&A and real estate transactions.

In addition, the firm has promoted José del Saz-Orozco and Félix Ponce-Nava, lawyers from Spain and Mexico respectively, to counsels. José del Saz-Orozco has spent his entire career at the firm in the area of Land Planning and Environment, while Félix Ponce-Nava is an expert in foreign trade and customs, regulatory consultancy and strategic legal protection.

Brussels Office

After joining Pérez-Llorca in 2021 as a partner and leading the opening of the Pérez-Llorca Brussels office in 2022, Sonsoles Centeno, a state advocate on leave of absence and an expert in Public Law and European Union Law, is returning to the Madrid office where she will continue to advise her clients on these matters.

Pablo Figueroa, who has been a partner in Pérez-Llorca’s Competition practice since 2021, will be the new resident partner of the firm’s Brussels office. Figueroa is an expert in competition law, European law and foreign direct investment control (‘FDI’) regulations. He holds a Master’s degree from the College of Europe (Bruges) and from Cornell Law School, and is a visiting lecturer at Queen Mary University (London).

Pérez-Llorca has expanded the team at its London office, headed by Álvaro Ramírez de Haro, and where Ander Valverde is the partner in charge of the Banking and Finance practice, covering both Madrid and London. The team has been strengthened with the addition of a partner and a counsel from the firm’s Madrid office, namely José Luis Romeu, Corporate/M&A partner, and Isabel Villa, Banking and Finance counsel and expert in debt restructuring, who are already based at the firm’s premises in the British capital’s Mayfair district.

Romeu and Villa join the partners already established in London, Álvaro Ramírez de Haro and Ander Valverde, and together they make up a team of ten professionals from different practice areas and specialities such as Corporate, Private Equity, M&A, Banking and Finance, and Restructuring.

The strengthening of Pérez-Llorca’s UK office is a response to the momentum of the firm’s international strategy led by Iván Delgado as International Executive Partner. Pérez-Llorca has five offices outside Spain. In addition to London, the firm is present in New York, Brussels, Singapore and Lisbon, covering the world’s three financial capitals, Europe’s regulatory capital and the Iberian Peninsula’s two capitals, as well as Barcelona.

José Luis Romeu joined Pérez-Llorca in 2017 as a lawyer in the Corporate practice and made partner in January 2024. Specialising in commercial law, his career has a strong international flavour as, in addition to an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law from Georgetown University, he worked in the firm’s London office in 2019 and 2020 and is also a Solicitor of England and Wales. Since joining the firm, he has advised domestic and foreign clients on all types of commercial transactions, and in particular on major M&A and private equity transactions, creation and dissolution of joint ventures and restructurings. He is recognised by Legal 500 for the practice of Private Equity.

Isabel Villa joined Pérez-Llorca’s Banking and Finance team as counsel in 2022 after working in the Madrid office of an international firm. With a degree in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, she boasts ample experience in structuring and executing various types of financing transactions, including corporate financings, leveraged buy-outs (LBOs), real estate financings and debt refinancing and restructuring transactions.

In addition, the firm has recently completed the expansion and renovation of its London and New York offices. The aim of these expansions is to increase the capacity and coverage of both offices to accommodate more professionals and to support the firm’s international strategy.

In London, the firm has expanded its office by renting an additional floor of the building at 17 Hill Street in Mayfair, where it moved in 2021 to be closer to the international funds with whom the firm regularly works.

In New York, the firm has doubled its floor space in the iconic Seagram Building at 375 Park Avenue.
