System of Rotations

During your first 15 months at the firm you will work with three different teams, spending five months with each of them. Throughout the selection process you will be asked for your preferences, although your choices allow for flexibility and can be changed once you start working at the Firm. We think this is a great system because it allows you to gain a more comprehensive understanding of both the law and the firm, and allows you to get to know various teams and practice areas. Each rotation period is a new challenge and it fosters the development of various skills necessary for the legal profession.

Ongoing Training Plan

Internal training. TESEO is an ambitious two-year training plan designed for Pérez-Llorca’s youngest lawyers. It is also open to any other lawyers from the firm who wish to participate. This programme, organised and funded by the firm, is designed with the primary goal of offering participants the necessary training to achieve their professional goals.

National and international external training. We encourage our lawyers to undergo continuous training, as this allows them to specialise in various topics, and fosters ongoing contact with the academic and professional world through courses, seminars and conferences organised by prestigious institutions.

We believe that a true professional not only builds on the skills and knowledge that they have but also continues learning and developing every day. We take this into consideration when creating a career for each lawyer. After several years of practicing as a lawyer, we recognise how important it is for you to stay up-to-date or study certain areas in more detail. At Pérez-Llorca, we believe in your career and we will support this process in a number of different ways:

Financial support. We offer to fully or partially fund postgraduate or Master’s degrees in the US when the interest and commitment is mutually recognised.

Recommendations. We provide individual and institutional references in order to facilitate admission into the programme of your choice.

Mentoring Groups. If you are interested, we can connect you with groups of lawyers, partners and/or alumni, who are able to offer advice as they themselves have gone through the same experiences and uncertainties.

International Opportunities

Secondments. You will be given the opportunity to participate in our international secondments and spend a period of time in a highly regarded law firm in the US, Latin America or Europe. We also have a system in place to give you the opportunity to work from our London and New York offices. These programmes offer you, as a future lawyer at Pérez-Llorca, the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.

Multilateral training. You will be able to attend courses and seminars abroad organised by other firms who invite our lawyers to participate in their training programmes.

One of Pérez-Llorca’s objectives is to help build a fair and just legal system. This is, in our opinion, part and parcel of a lawyer’s moral and ethical duty. In order to centralise and manage all this work, a Pro Bono Committee has been set-up which reviews all requests for work and assigns them to the professionals leading the projects. External Communications Specialist

We are looking for an External Communications Specialist for our Madrid office

Role: 

 

Will report to the head of firm’s Communications Department and will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborating on the preparation and execution of the Corporate Communications plan.
  • Developing written and audiovisual content for external communications.
  • Managing press releases, interviews, opinion articles and other content with specific and general national and international media.
  • Proactive identification of strategic communications opportunities.
  • Supporting the content creation for internal communication channels and social networks.

Requirements:

Professional Support Lawyer specialised in Tax Law

We are looking for a Professional Support Lawyer specialised in Tax to support the tax law practice area from the Knowledge Management team.

Role:

 

As a Professional Support Lawyer, you will join the Knowledge Management area, and will carry out the following functions, among others:

 

  • Resolve complex technical legal queries.
  • Support the practice area in legal research, finding precedents, academic writing and case law of interest.
  • Monitor developments in regulations, case law and academic writing.
  • Produce internal newsletters on developments of interest and provide support in the drafting of information briefings and newsletters for clients.
  • Support in the drafting of the tax department’s academic articles and publications.
  • Support in the preparation of events related to tax matters.

Junior Analyst

Head of Customer Services

You will manage the team, systems and administrative processes covering the life of the matter from client intake to collection of invoices issued, including: client intake/proposals/matters, including KYC, dispute, compliance, billing and collection processes. Reporting to the CFO.

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Upgrading the centralised operating model by aligning business needs (partners), compliance requirements (MLP and TF) and efficiency in administrative processes
  • Analysing and reviewing all the processes carried out by the department in order to transfer the requirements in the ERP implementation
  • Establishing a smooth client, proposal and matter (proposal, matter, billing and collection) intake process ensuring that compliance, KYC and conflict-check requirements are met in all situations
  • Ensuring that Proposals/Engagement letters meet the firm’s requirements and controlling their risks (including economic ones)
  • Establishing mechanisms to control and follow-up on issues alongside the Planning area: opening issues/sub-issues, budgets; allocation, validation and transfer of hours and expenses; valuing wips; carrying out woffs
  • Supervising and validating the invoicing and re-invoicing processes
  • Analysing outstanding invoices and defining the strategy and follow-up alongside the Treasury and Legal Counsel
  • Coordinating with the accounting department in setting and enforcing tax, legal, accounting and auditing criteria in the execution of invoicing (credit memos, re-invoicing, etc.) and collection processes (provisions, write-offs, laundering, VAT recovery, etc.)
  • Supporting the accounting department within the financial audit process in explaining the evolution of receivable balances

 

Requirements:

 

  • University Degree
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in similar functions in a large company (preferably regulated)
  • Knowledge of CRM and ERP (SAP) would be an asset
  • Strong service and client focus
  • Ability to collaborate in joint projects involving different departments

Document Review Specialist

At Pérez-Llorca we are creating a documentation editing, proofreading and design team which will be responsible for providing support to our lawyers in reviewing the format and adapting the internal style of contracts, reports and other documents addressed to clients.

As part of this team, we are looking for people with a high level of knowledge in document editing and great attention to detail, who will be responsible for the following tasks, among others:

Training and Development Officer

We are looking for a Training and Development Officer to join our Human Resources team.

Reporting to the Human Resources Director, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

Money Laundering Prevention Officer

We are looking for an MLP Officer for the Madrid office, reporting to the head of the area, who will manage the entire client intake process from a money laundering prevention perspective prior to the opening of the case, as well as the systems and processes.

Role:

 

  • Identification and prioritisation of customer risk level in CRM and ERP (according to MLP and TF criteria).
  • Verification that the Proposals/Engagement letters meet the firm’s requirements and control the related economic risk.
  • Money Laundering Prevention Audits.
  • Review and approval of customer documentation (KYC).

Requirements:

 

  • University Degree. Postgraduate studies in MLP valued.

General Counsel

The main role will be to provide general legal advice and coordination within the firm.

The General Counsel will have at least 10 years’ experience in general legal practice, with a certain degree of specialisation in civil, commercial, tax, administrative and procedural law, and will be responsible for:

 

  • Supervising and guaranteeing the appropriate level of internal legal advice to all the firm’s departments: advice on employment, tax, contractual matters, etc.
  • Co-ordination of external advisors on legal implications of the provision of services where appropriate.
  • Managing administrative files, licences, appeals and contracts with the administration, clients, suppliers and partners, both nationally and in other offices of the firm outside Spain.
  • Out-of-court claims, management and representation of the company in litigation that may arise in the firm’s day-to-day activity, such as non-payment by clients.
  • Drafting and negotiating pre-contractual and contractual documentation.
  • Convening, organising, advising, documenting and formalising the meetings of the firm’s governing bodies and the resolutions adopted.
  • Standard forms, membership contracts and general documentation regarding the company’s legal relationship with third parties.
  • Legal analysis of new applications and technology platforms.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Law degree with consolidated experience in similar position and functions described (minimum experience of 10 years), within corporate legal consultancies, preferably in the services sector.
  • Extensive general legal knowledge and experience in the application of commercial/corporate law.
  • Strong focus on quality at work, continuous improvement and service, as well as the ability to work under pressure and in a highly demanding environment.
  • Clear focus on advice and support for the business lines served.
  • Capacity for analysis and problem solving, planning and organisation, and generation and assessment of entrepreneurial actions.

Corporate Social Responsibility Officer

We are looking for a CSR Officer for our Madrid office who will report to the firm’s CSR Department.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborating in the development of activities and projects related to the firm’s CSR/ESG area, including Pro Bono (free legal advice).
  • Helping coordinate and promote the CSR/ESG strategy and actions in the relevant sectors (advocacy, universities, third parties and others).

TESEO Training Programme

A training program designed for lawyers of the future.

Our TESEO internal Training Programme has received several awards.

What are the objectives of TESEO?

TESEO provides our lawyers with solid legal training to further enhance their knowledge and analytical skills in the fundamentals of Company Law. TESEO also helps our lawyers better understand practice areas other than those in which they normally work, introduces them to recent legal developments (i.e. legislative, case law and doctrinal developments), and provides them with the expertise or soft skills necessary for the practice of law.

How long does the programme run for?

TESEO is an internal training programme that lasts for two academic years. It is composed of several modules, both legal and non-legal, all of which are compulsory for lawyers during their first two years of practising law. Some of these modules are open to the firm’s more senior professionals and partners.

What does it involve?

I. Orientation Module:

WELCOME COURSE

The welcome course offers you an insight into the firm’s culture, allowing you to adapt quickly and easily to the work environment. You will get to know the Pérez-Llorca’s different areas of work, the internal rules which govern the way we work and the practice of law and professional ethics.

FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS CONCERNING COMPANY LAW

This part of the training offers a practical focus on the fundamental questions relating to the various legal branches that make up Company Law and enhances knowledge acquired during your university studies.

II. Continuous Legal Training Module:

SEMINARS

This module includes seminars designed to expand your knowledge of certain legal matters. An expert lawyer will cover current legal issues.

LEGAL REFRESHER COURSE

This course will keep you up to date with the latest legislative, case law and other relevant legal news.

CASE STUDIES

In order to offer practical legal training of a multidisciplinary nature, case studies dealing with differing legal issues and focus points  are presented to the lawyers.

III. Non-Continuous Legal Training Module:

This course seeks to make the most of your talents and skills, both professionally and personally, by providing you with the tools necessary towork in the legal profession through specific courses on legal English, accounting and finance, and soft skills, among others.

Business Development Training

Business Development is a very important aspect of a lawyer’s work alongside the technical competencies that can be acquired through practice. For this reason, we have a specific Business Development training programme for senior lawyers that gives them the basic tools necessary to successfully conduct presentations and meetings, respond to our clients’ needs, and create new business opportunities.

International Training

Pérez-Llorca has two offices abroad: London and New York where our lawyers practice Spanish law. Our offices assist Pérez-Llorca’s clients with the development of their projects and serve as a gateway for our firm to collaborate closely with local firms.

Both offices are managed by partners who have spent the majority of their professional careers at Pérez-Llorca. They are accompanied by associates who joined early on in their careers and have grown both personally and professionally at Pérez-Llorca.

From our London office located in the capital’s financial hub in the City, our firm provides a global and comprehensive service, advising our clients on cross-border transactions and accompanying them on all of their projects.

From our New York office located on Park Avenue, we advise clients on Spanish law and adapt our multidisciplinary assessment to their needs in the US and Latin America.
