Resolution of the National Energy Commission establishing the requirements for obtaining a generation permit for interconnected self-supply in power plants with a capacity between 0.7 and 20 MW

11/08/2025

On August 6, 2025, the National Energy Commission published the Resolution establishing a simplified process for obtaining generation permits for interconnected self-supply in power plants with a capacity between 0.7 and 20 MW.

The Resolution sets forth the documentary, technical, and administrative requirements applicants must meet, including submission of a simplified one-line diagram, a construction schedule, a business plan, evidence of technical and financial capacity, and, where applicable, a corporate structure diagram. This framework will take effect once the pending regulations of the Electricity Sector Law and the Energy Planning and Energy Transition Law are published.

Pérez-Llorca Mexico’s Projects, Energy and Infrastructure team is available to assist with the preparation and filing of these applications.
