Profile
Since beginning his legal career in 1996, Ricardo has developed a strong practice advising international banks with operations or cross-border interests in Colombia, particularly in financings, capital markets, derivatives transactions, and banking and securities regulation. He has also advised government entities, private contractors, and lenders in the structuring of projects and has served as lead counsel in several financing transactions, providing him with a broad and well-rounded perspective for this type of advisory work.

He speaks Spanish and English.
Experience
Ricardo has built a solid track record advising national and international companies on complex matters related to infrastructure, transportation, energy, and financial law. He has worked on key transactions such as the financing granted by Bancolombia to the Santa Marta–Paraguachón concession, the corporate and financial restructuring of Pacific Rubiales, and debt management operations for major financial institutions. He also took part in Tecnoglass’s listing on NASDAQ and in the financing for the acquisition of the BTS toll road concession, as well as in Avianca’s DIP financing and reorganization plan.
At Pérez-Llorca, he has led legal advisory on high-impact transactions, including the structuring and implementation of unsolicited tender offers for ordinary shares of Grupo Nutresa, Grupo Sura, and Grupo Argos between 2021 and 2023, as well as the negotiation of the 2024 framework agreement between the Gilinski Family and IHC Capital Holding LLC, under which a share exchange between Grupo Nutresa and Grupo Sura was agreed.
He also advised financial sector entities on the negotiation of a multi-billion-dollar loan granted to Ecopetrol under Colombian law—one of the most significant public credit operations in the country—and led the refinancing of Bayport Management’s financial liabilities through the renegotiation of multiple loan agreements, benefitting all parties involved.
