Profile

Bernardo has been a member of the firm since 2012. He is based in our Mexico City office and is a transactional lawyer with over 20 years of experience. His practice focuses primarily on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, co-investments, joint ventures and strategic alliances in highly regulated sectors and industries.

He also has extensive experience in financing transactions, structured finance and public and private offerings of securities in Mexico and abroad, advising issuers, holders, qualified and institutional investors (including Retirement Fund Managers – AFORES), intermediaries, rating agencies and consulting firms, including corporate bonds, government securities, development capital certificates (CKDs), Real Estate Investment Trusts (FIBRAs), Energy and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (FIBRAs E), CERPIs, securitizations of various types of assets (such as automotive loans, mortgage loans, payroll loans, equipment and machinery leases, infrastructure projects and others), and bonds labeled under ESG standards.

Experience

His experience also includes representing and advising financial entities regulated and supervised in Mexico. He currently serves as independent board member of the financial entity regulated by the CNBV of Banco Bradesco in Mexico.Prior to joining the firm, Bernardo was a member of the legal teams at Value Grupo Financiero and Banco INVEX.

Additionally, from 2014 to 2016, Bernardo worked as an international associate in the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.

Academic and Publishing collaborations

Bernardo has extensive experience in academia. He currently serves as professor of the course “M&A – Anatomy of Mergers and Acquisitions” at Universidad Iberoamericana and has previously taught at the law schools of Universidad Panamericana (Mexico City – Mixcoac) and Universidad Anáhuac Norte.
