Pérez-Llorca and Gómez-Pinzón have completed their merger, which was announced at the end of May, following the approval of the partners’ meetings of both firms and their governing bodies.
With this merger, Pérez-Llorca will become one of the leading law firms in Colombia, with a team of more than 120 lawyers. Following the integration, Pérez-Llorca’s global pro forma sales for the last twelve months are expected to reach approximately $230 million.
This is the first time that a leading Colombian law firm has merged with an Ibero-American firm and they are doing so in order to jointly develop the first law practice in Colombia, with a full-service implementation and a leading position in large transactions, financings and transnational litigation.
The main objective of this merger is to participate as advisors in investment flows into Colombia from the United States, Europe, Mexico, Asia and other Latin American markets, with the ambition of making the firm the leading legal partner for large international firms, financial sponsors and multinational companies, but also with a focus on local clients, both in Colombia and abroad, seeking to take advantage of investment flows between this country and the Iberian Peninsula.
“We are very pleased to complete this merger, which stems from the mutual conviction that together we are stronger,” said Pedro Pérez-Llorca, Senior Partner at Pérez-Llorca. “Our goal is clear: to consolidate a leading firm in Latin America by offering advice on complex matters with an integrated vision and unified management”.
One firm, one culture
This is a full legal and economic integration of Gómez-Pinzón and its teams into Pérez-Llorca. The partners of the Colombian firm will become part of the Pérez-Llorca partnership and its various management bodies and committees. In the same way, all the professionals who make up Gómez-Pinzón will enjoy a professional career on the same terms as in the rest of Pérez-Llorca’s offices.
Both firms have been working on aligning their teams, processes and culture, sharing the same exacting quality standards, thus ensuring a homogenous internal and external client experience.
Pérez-Llorca is committed to maintaining a strong commitment to continuous training, gender equality, legal innovation, the development of Colombia and its institutions, as well as corporate social responsibility, key areas in its sustainable growth strategy.
“Integrating Gómez-Pinzón with Pérez-Llorca represents a unique opportunity for our clients and our team. Joining a firm with a global vision and a commitment to legal excellence such as Pérez-Llorca allows us, on the one hand, to offer an even more solid service to our clients, with a global reach and all the support that this entails, and, on the other hand, an international platform for our professionals to continue developing their talent,” said Mauricio Piñeros, Partner at Pérez-Llorca Colombia.
Pérez-Llorca’s international project
With this merger, Pérez-Llorca practices local law in Spain, Portugal, Mexico and Colombia, as well as being present in the world’s main financial and regulatory centres: London, New York, Brussels and Singapore.
After the merger with Gómez-Pinzón, Pérez-Llorca will consolidate a regional firm model in the Iberian and Latin American markets, now with an additional focus on South America, offering comprehensive advice on Spanish, Portuguese, Mexican, Colombian and European law, with nearly a thousand professionals who work from its 11 offices located in Barcelona, Bogotá, Brussels, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Medellín, Mexico City, Monterrey, New York and Singapore.
“In just a decade we have gone from operating only in Spain to being present on three continents. This is thanks to the work of all the professionals who make up the firm and the backing of the partners who have always supported this internationalisation strategy as a lever to make us the leading firm for our clients’ most complex transactions and matters”, said Iván Delgado, Pérez-Llorca’s International Executive Partner.
