Amendments to the General Rules of the Anti-Money Laundering Law

14/08/2026

The amendments to the General Rules of the Anti-Money Laundering Law have been published, consolidating a compliance model based on risk-level assessment, transaction traceability, and continuous monitoring.

On August 7, 2026, the Agreement amending the General Rules referred to in the Federal Law for the Prevention and Identification of Transactions with Illegally Sourced Funds was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. The amendments consolidate a compliance model based on determining the risk level of both proprietary and third-party transactions, ensuring the traceability of operations, and enabling their continuous monitoring.

Key changes include a risk-based approach, an order of priority for identifying the ultimate beneficial owner, new requirements for the internal policies manual, and new provisions on audits, automated monitoring mechanisms, training programs, and personnel selection.
