Germán Villamil has built a distinguished career in the financial and energy sectors. Between 1988 and 1994, he held several key positions at the Central Bank of Colombia, including Deputy Director of International Organizations and Special Studies, Acting Director of the Legal Department, Secretary of the Executive Committee, Legal Sub-Management Assistant, and Member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council, before becoming Director of the Legal Department. Since 1994, he has been a partner at Gómez-Pinzón, where he has established himself as a leading advisor in financial law, hydrocarbons, and dispute resolution, assisting major energy companies in Colombia and internationally.
His experience includes advising Canacol on the issuance of senior notes, assisting ODL in drafting its transportation manual, and supporting Iberoamericana de Hidrocarburos on regulatory matters. He has counseled Ecopetrol and Oxy on the acquisition of equity interests in Rodeo Midland Basin and advised on the potential acquisition of a Colombian vehicle.
