Tax audit scheduling criteria for 2026

01/01/1970

Mexico’s Tax Administration Service (SAT) has published the tax audit scheduling criteria for 2026, aimed at enhancing legal certainty for taxpayers and strengthening efforts to combat tax evasion and avoidance.

The new guidelines highlight high-risk behaviors such as transactions with shell companies, recurring tax losses, and the misuse of tax incentives. The SAT will also implement a risk-rating system to prioritize audits according to each taxpayer’s risk level, with an estimated 16,200 audits expected, primarily targeting large taxpayers and those engaged in foreign trade.
