On July 16, 2026, the Agreement mandating the exclusive use of the SAT’s Advanced Electronic Signature (e.firma) for processing enrollment procedures and registering legal representatives with the IMSS was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. All such transactions must be carried out through the Virtual Desktop platform. The Agreement eliminates the Employer Electronic Identification Number (NPIE), establishing the e.firma as the sole valid digital certificate for electronic transactions with the IMSS, with the same legal force as a handwritten signature.
The Agreement took effect on July 17, 2026, with a 90-calendar-day transition period for employers to fully migrate to the exclusive use of the e.firma, making it necessary to verify the validity of the e.firma credentials of both the employer and its legal representatives to ensure operational continuity before the Institute.
