Profile

Mariona joined Pérez-Llorca as a lawyer in March 2018. She first joined the firm in July 2015 to undertake work experience as part of her Law degree. She also completed work experience at the firm during her Masters.

Studies:

• 2017 Joint Honours Master’s degree in International Business Law and for Access to the Legal Profession, ESADE – Universitat Ramon Llull.
• 2016 Degree in Law, ESADE – Universitat Ramon Llull.

She speaks Catalan, Spanish and English.

Experience

Mariona Bernaus is a senior associate at Pérez-Llorca.

Mariona represents clients before the Spanish Civil and Commercial Courts across the full spectrum of contentious matters, from the earliest pre-litigious stages through to final judgment.

Her practice centres on complex corporate and commercial disputes, with particular depth in claims arising out of service and works contracts, construction projects, commercial lease agreements, and the liability of company directors. Mariona further advises on shareholder and partnership disputes, including matters of corporate governance, as well as post-M&A litigation arising from sale and purchase agreements, representations and warranties claims, and price adjustment mechanisms. She brings recognised expertise to matters involving damages actions following from antitrust infringements, and regularly acts in proceedings for the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments before the Spanish courts.

Academic and Publishing Collaborations

• Mariona participated as a speaker at the 2nd UIA Private International Law Forum organised by the Union International des Avocats (UIA), where she spoke about ‘The civil liability of company directors for breach of the duty of diligence with regard to sustainability criteria’.
• Mariona participated as a moderator in the roundtable discussion ‘Leadership in Action: Global Legal Associations advocating for public interest and freedom of information’ at the Trobades de Barcelona Memorial Jacques Henry organised by the Barcelona Bar Association.
• Mariona was speaker at the lectures: ‘Conferencia GAJ: Como preparar un interrogatorio efectivo de parte, testificales y periciales’ and ‘La moderación judicial de las cláusulas penales desde un punto de vista práctico’ both organised by the Barcelona Bar Association: Reviewer of the Esade Law Review.
• ‘Cómo hacer de un abogado un ‘rainmaker’: cursos para que llueva dinero en el bufete’, Legal, Cinco Días.
• ‘L’advocacia internacional analitza la directiva que protegeix els periodistes de les demandes abusives en el marc de les Trobades de Barcelona – Memorial Jacques Henry 2025’.

Professional organisations

Mariona is a member of the International Relations Commission of the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB).

She is an Associate Professor at Barcelona University in the Private International Law Department.
