Teresa Madeira Afonso has nearly twenty years of professional experience in national and international law firms, where she has specialised in providing legal advice in the fields of real estate, tourism and corporate law. Prior to joining Pérez-Llorca, she was a co-managing partner of the Real Estate and Tourism practice of a Portuguese firm.
Her practice focuses on advising national and international clients, including private equity funds, institutional investors and family offices, and she is highly skilled in advising new entrants to the Portuguese real estate market.
Teresa specialises in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, with a particular focus on real estate M&A and related services, such as indirect acquisitions and divestments, forward fundings, greenfield and brownfield developments, commercial leases and hotel management agreements. She also has a strong track record in real estate private equity, including joint ventures, strategic alliances and investment platforms. Additionally, Teresa has taken part in solvent and insolvent restructurings, as well as financings and loan-to-own transactions linked the real estate and tourism sectors.
Her experience covers a wide range of asset types, including the hospitality, commercial and logistics sectors. Lastly, she has been involved in the development of large-scale agricultural projects and taken part in major transactions in the Iberian agri-food sector.
