Profile

Luís Roquette Geraldes is a partner in the Corporate Law/M&A practice and heads the Emerging Companies and Venture Capital (ECVC) practice.

Before joining Pérez-Llorca, he was a partner in the Corporate and M&A practice at a prestigious Portuguese law firm, where he led the Private Equity and Emerging Companies/Venture Capital teams. He was also an International Associate in the London office of a renowned international law firm based in the US, working in the Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate Finance departments.

Experience

Luís is one of the leading lawyers in the emerging companies and venture capital sector, with a particular focus on the technology, healthcare and life sciences sectors. Throughout his career, he has advised high-growth companies, founders and national and international investment funds on cross-border transactions and across the entire investment cycle, including funding rounds, venture debt, growth capital, international expansion, M&A transactions and exits.

He has extensive experience in cross-jurisdictional transactions and has led hundreds of funding rounds in more than 20 jurisdictions.
Academic and publishing collaborations

Luís lectures at a number of leading institutions: he was a Teaching Assistant at Stanford University School of Medicine, on the course in Biotechnology Law; a visiting lecturer on the MBA programme at the Wharton School, teaching the module on Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies and Digital Assets; and a visiting lecturer at NOVA School of Law, where he coordinated the ‘Start-up Life Cycle’ module on the Master degree in Law and Technology.
