Pérez-Llorca today announced the appointment of Cristina Vergueiro as Senior International Counsel for the Lisbon office’s Corporate practice area. Vergueiro comes from one of the largest and most well-known private equity and infrastructure managers in Latin America, where she was Managing Director and General Counsel.
Throughout her career, she has been involved in all phases of the investment cycle: fund structuring, capital raising, investment and divestment transactions, as well as the monitoring and development of portfolio companies. Her experience includes the definition of governance, risk management and compliance models in sectors such as logistics, energy, transport and pharmaceuticals, in various Latin American markets, in addition to her activity in crisis management and arbitration. She was also a member of the board of directors of a number of portfolio companies.
Vergueiro holds a law degree from the University of São Paulo Law School and is a member of the Brazilian Bar Association.
Her arrival at the firm strengthens Pérez-Llorca’s capacity to support clients, both organisations and private clients, in cross-border transactions, contributing to the firm’s international scope, with a special focus on projects involving Portuguese-speaking and Latin American markets, especially Brazil.
Gonçalo Capela Godinho, Country Chair of Pérez-Llorca in Portugal, said: “Cristina provides an in-depth understanding of the private equity industry and the dynamics of infrastructure investments. Her experience will allow us to offer our clients solid legal solutions for complex M&A transactions and the development of projects in critical sectors such as energy, transport and logistics.”
