Profile

Joana joined Pérez-Llorca as counsel for Energy practice area in the Lisbon office in 2025. Her addition to the firm strengthens an area of law in a field that is critical for the Portuguese economy and is part of the country’s growth strategy.

Experience

Joana has more than 15 years’ experience advising national and international companies on energy matters, with a special focus on the regulation of the electricity sector, M&A transactions and project financing. Prior to joining Pérez-Llorca, Joana worked in some of the most reputable Portuguese law firms, was part of the legal services management team at the Portuguese Energy Services Regulatory Authority and served as an advisor to the Secretary of State for Energy in the 19th and 20th Constitutional Governments.

In 2021, she taught the ‘Production under a special regime – wind, mini-hydro and hybridisation’ module for the Universidade de Lisboa’s Faculty of Law postgraduate course in Energy Law.
