Pérez-Llorca appoints José Luis Luna as General Counsel

21/03/2023

Pérez-Llorca has today appointed José Luis Luna as General Counsel to head the in-house legal department, in addition to handling responsibilities in the areas of compliance and management.

Luna has more than 20 years of work experience gained in both law firms and multinationals, which gives him a comprehensive view of his work. He holds a degree in Law from the University of Seville, a master’s degree in Corporate Law from IE Law School, as well as a postgraduate degree in European Politics and Community Law from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of the Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg, in addition to studies at Georgetown University in Washington.

His most recent positions have been as Director of Corporate Legal Counsel, member of the Executive Committee and the Management Committee of Abengoa and subsequently partner of the firm Ontier.

Although the appointment of a General Counsel with broad management powers is common in large international firms, it is more novel in the Spanish market. With this step, Pérez-Llorca intends to deepen the institutionalisation and formation of a professionalised management team, which began years ago with the appointments of partner Constanza Vergara as Corporate Director, María Luisa de Landecho as CFO and Rafael Madero as CIO, as well as with the growth of professional departments of HR, Communications, Marketing and Business Development, CSR, Knowledge Management, Finance, Information Technology, Innovation, among others.

This management model is intended to allow the firm’s partners and lawyers to concentrate on developing their practices and handling legal matters entrusted to them by clients, while maximising efficiency, innovation and professionalism in internal management matters.
