Experience

Felipe has recently acted for a U.S. insurer in an ICSID arbitration against a Latin American state over the nationalization of its private pension system, and represented a Middle Eastern state in proceedings concerning the construction of a major power and desalination plant. He has also advised pension fund managers preparing for potential arbitration with a Latin American state, and counseled a mining company in a dispute over tax measures.

On the commercial side, his recent work includes representing a global renewable energy company in an ICC arbitration arising from the construction of a windfarm in a U.S. territory; advising a Latin American energy company in ICC proceedings concerning EPC design and construction defects in a hydrocarbon facility; and handling four parallel UNCITRAL arbitrations under LCIA Rules for a Spanish multinational against Central Asian state entities over joint venture, production, and offtake rights.

In the United States, Felipe has acted in AAA arbitrations stemming from large-scale projects, including disputes involving a car manufacturing facility and a flue gas desulfurization unit at a power plant. He has also guided companies in post-M&A, SPAC-related, and infrastructure disputes.
